Our Next Event:
The SideWalkArtShow Poster Contest
Art Society of Old Greenwich Members and Non-Members, it’s that time of year again when we are gearing up for the 62nd SideWalkArtShow, Sound Beach Avenue, Old Greenwich, September 8-9. You are invited to submit up to three (3) paintings, photographs, or drawings, from which this year’s Poster will be selected by a jury of qualified (member) artists.
The theme is simple: a rendering of a familiar setting in Greenwich-Byram-Old Greenwich-Riverside. The poster goes to the 180 local merchants and private citizens who have contributed to past SideWalkArtShows since 2000. The image selected will be award a $100 prize with appropriate publicity. SPRING SHOW JUDGE: Dimitri Wright, painter and teacher
RECEIVING: Tuesday, April 3rd 10 to 12. Stay for a hanging workshop at 1pm. Installation is an art!
RECEPTION: Thursday, April 5th from 6 to 8 pm.
PICK UP: Friday, April 27th at 3 pm.
Plan to stay for a demo by Botanical artist Lauretta Jones at 3 pm.
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Maximum perimeter size: 140”
Members only. 2012 dues ($30) may be paid at receiving.
One artwork with $20 entry fee for recent work, never shown in this gallery
All works must be framed/wired for hanging
No exposed glass edges or stapled unframed canvas edges nor sawtooth hangers.
Sculptors must supply their own base
COMMISSION: The Garden Education Center takes a 15% commission on sales.
LIABILITY: ASOG and GEC are not responsible for loss or damage of any kind.
Submitting an entry indicates acceptance of this proviso.
Includes STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Greenwich High School Student ASOG winners will be on display.
The Art Society of Old Greenwich is proud to encourage students who demonstrate
talent and commitment to the arts. Greenwich High School seniors submit portfolios to be
judged: One is named as Grand Prize at $1000 and two as Runners Up @ $600.
Winners will exhibit two artworks each for the duration of this show.
Students, friends and family members are invited to Spring Show reception
